It is one of the<br \/>\ncountry\u2019s most famous tourist destinations, known for its well-preserved medieval architecture and<br \/>\nstunning seaside views.<\/p>\n<p>Dubrovnik was historically known as the Republic of Ragusa, an independent maritime republic that<br \/>\nexisted from the 14th to the early 19th century. It was a major trading hub and rivalled Venice in<br \/>\nmaritime commerce.<\/p>\n<p>Dubrovnik is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is surrounded by massive stonewalls dating back to<br \/>\nthe 10th century, which are among the best-preserved in Europe.
